Officially endorsed by Soul Train Holdings, “Love, Peace, and Soul: Behind the Scenes of Soul Train” is a new book by award-winning music/pop culture writer Ericka Blount Danois. Join Hip Hop Historian, DJ Davey D for a soul set this Sunday at Lungomare on the water in Jack London Square for the official book signing release and dance party!
The book features iconic pictures from Soul Train Holdings Inc., photographers Oggi Ogburn, Ernie Paniccioli, and Martha Cooper, and a foreword by Stax former president Al Bell and music industry veteran Gary Harris.
Following the party, we’ll be at the New Parkway Theater for the encore screening of “Let’s Stay Together,” the beautiful Brooklyn / Oakland film by Joshua Bee Alafia that anyone with a heart must see. Tickets for the special film screening are available here.
The Book Release Party Hosts
Zsa-Zsa Rensch is a San Francisco Bay Area based creative marketer and project manager, working under the moniker of Zsa Zsa, Inc. As a champion for music and the arts she has found a way to connect the dots. Current projects include content curation and buzz building for Fusicology.com (Bay Area) and advisory board duties for the Oakland Film Society. She has build the buzz for Bay Area genre-defying music acts, and loves attending live music concerts and tech conferences. Keesa Ocampo is an award-winning professional in the industry of international broadcaster and carries an expertise in political and charitable fundraising. A champion for women and girls, her philanthropy currently focuses on supporting foster youth through the Lincoln Child Center and bringing literacy and peace to hard-to-reach and war-torn barrios through Books for the Barrios. She has been recognized as one of the 100 Most Influential Filipinas in the United States and received a Presidential Citation for her humanitarian work from Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, former President of the Republic of the Philippines and currently serves as a Commissioner on the San Mateo County Commission on the Status of Women.
Nikki Thomas is the News/Public Affairs Director and morning show co-host at 102.9 KBLX and a single mom who swears by and teaches yoga for it’s spiritual, physical, and emotional benefits. “Yoga is a mind, body, spirit workout….it helps you bring your whole life into balance.” Nikki is also the founder of The Nikki Thomas Network, a website devoted to entertainment and empowerment.
